　　Have you seen a film named Titanic, I believe no one will shake head. It’s a film about how the ship Titanic sank into the sea in that time. It is very exciting. But I am quite interested in the story of the film, Jack and Rose’s story. I can learn some deeper things from it.

　　After the ship hit an iceberg and sank into the sea. Jack and Rose and other people fell into the cold sea water. As the weather was getting colder and colder, they were gradually stepping into death. Jack asked Rose to promise him not to give up the hope of life. At last, Jack was dead, and Rose had a narrow escape, because she listened to Jack and didn’t give up.

　　In the race of life, there is no doubt that we will go through ups and downs, peaks and valleys, and joys and sorrows. 　　My topic is Honesty. As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’s tooth. This is a true story. chuzhongchusan 65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon.

　　He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure. In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragon’s mouth. He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older.

　　Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 20xx, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome. When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error.

Though the wind was strong, that man could have a good rest under the trees. How comfortable the life was! One day, that man wanted to enlarge his house, so he cut down all the trees. Then the autumn came without the protection.

　　The strong wind blew the roof of the house into the sky. The whole house was gone with the wind. What a pity! But that’s the price people have to pay for destroying in the ecology balance. People shouldn’t be short-sighted. Protecting the environment is everyone’s task. As you know, there are four kinds of pollution. They are air pollution, water pollution, waste pollution and noise pollution. But what can we do to solve the pollution? I think, firstly, we can make cars that don’t pollute the environment. We can ask companies to use modern clean technology. In some big cities, we can limit the number of cars. Secondly, we can try to use less water and make sure that we do not pollute the water. We can tell factories that they are not allowed to pour waste water into the lakes and rivers. Thirdly, we should not throw rubbish in parks and cities. We can pick up rubbish if we see it. 　　Before you get lost in speculation, please follow me and try considering some other questions: put up your hands if you have watched the Olympic Games? nonetheless how many of you had the experience of sitting in front of the television waiting for the Games of the unable people? I think now we can draw the conclusion that we concern the Olympic games mostly for entertainment.

　　Have you found out that the linkage between the Olympic Games and the green environment is that we almost do nothing really helpful to either of them! What now I want to tell you is very realistic I wrote them from the core of my heart so please believe me they are my true feelings.

　　Last summer when I had just finished the high school entrance examination, I came up with the idea of not using air conditioners in that coming summer. Then I had an extraordinarily hard time controlling myself and had suffered from having more than one air conditioners in sight yet cannot make use of them. Every time I caught sight of them I told myself that I was doing something quite valuable. Finally autumn came and to my surprise I had made it! You know how excited I was? I really felt very proud of myself. Sounds ridiculous right? However, will all of you here join me to do this next year, will you? I hope so. Because I feel deeply upset every time when I see my parents waste a lot of water and I don't know why I'm extremely concerned about the protection of environment and the reservation of natural resources since I was young. My mother was against me on whether to mention her in my speech nevertheless I consider it very common among you and maybe your parents. In the past I didn't dare to ask others to turn off the faucet while not using them because I was afraid of being described as stingy, am I? 　　Good morning everyone, it's my pleasure to be here and talk about dreams and ambitions with you.

　　When I was a primary school student I wrote in my composition that I want to be a scientist when I grow up. At that age I didn't know what is a scientist, nor did I know what is dream. I wrote it because it's a standard answer for a composition test. And I know if I wrote that I want to be a peasant I would be criticized and laughed at, no matter what reason I gave it. But now in university, one of my classmates changed my idea. At the career planning class when asked about our dreams, one of my classmates stood up and said, " I want to be a peasant because I grow up in a peasant family and I love it." No laughter, no criticism, he was the only who winned a clapping.

　　It sets me thinking, which should be a man's dream? a scientist, or a peasant? It's not a simple question and my answer is both. This is exactly my understanding of this topic. Dreams are something we really want and are willing to try every effort to achieve, no matter how great or how small, no matter how others think, it depends on you.

　　Life is long, and we are just on the starting point. Finally we'll understand life is not just about making a living. There're something much more important than money and material enjoyment, that is spiritual wealth, that is dream. It's the process of your pursuit of dream, the process when you are trying, when you are seeking, when you are struggling, when you failed and restarted again and again with your determination, hardwork, and perseverance that make you, build you, and help you to lead a worthy and significative life, whether you'll achieve your dream or not, the result is not that important.
